How do I pay for a transfer with DEKRA?

After the transfer has been completed, you will receive an invoice from DEKRA, payable net immediately.

Who does DEKRA transport vehicles for?

DEKRA transfers vehicles for companies within the meaning of Section 14 of the German Civil Code (BGB).

What is a transfer?

A transfer means transporting a vehicle from a location A (pickup location) to a location B (destination).

Who will deliver my vehicle/car to DEKRA?

DEKRA transfers vehicles both with its own employees and with subcontractors bound by framework contracts.

What does a transfer driver do?

The transfer driver receives a transfer order from DEKRA, picks up a vehicle from location A (pickup location) and drives the vehicle to location B (destination), directly and using his own axle. When picking up at the pickup location, the transfer driver creates a digital handover protocol using the DEKRA app and when handing over at the destination, the transfer driver creates a digital handover protocol using the DEKRA app. He documents all technical data and damage in the protocol and has the protocol signed. Before leaving the pickup location, he checks the vehicle for roadworthiness. During the transfer journey and before the vehicle is handed over to the destination, it may be necessary to refuel or wash the outside of the vehicle.

Is a transfer trip insured with DEKRA?

Yes, DEKRA is fully insured. DEKRA’s subcontractors are also insured.

How does a transfer work at DEKRA?

• After receipt of the order, you will receive a confirmation that you have accepted the transfer order with a specific execution time (date from-to). DEKRA will notify you of the pickup at the pickup location in advance via email, specifying the driver (name) and identifying the driver (date of birth or driver’s license number). The vehicle will be picked up by the driver at the pickup location at the designated time and taken to the destination. For each transfer of risk, DEKRA creates a digital acceptance and handover protocol including photo documentation using the DEKRA app. After completing the trip, you will receive a copy of the protocol via email.
Where and to where does DEKRA transfer vehicles?
DEKRA only transfers vehicles within Germany. Vehicles can be picked up or delivered from/to any location in Germany, as long as they can travel to/from their own vehicle.

How does DEKRA transfer vehicles?

DEKRA only transfers vehicles using its own axle. DEKRA does not transfer vehicles using third-party axles (e.g. freight forwarder, car transporter).

What kind of vehicles/cars does DEKRA transport?

DEKRA transfers all vehicles (cars, vans, trucks) that are officially registered, unloaded, ready to drive and roadworthy in accordance with the road traffic regulations. DEKRA does not transfer vehicles that have been involved in accidents or vehicles that require short-term license plates or red permanent license plates.

What condition does the vehicle have to be in for the transfer?

The vehicle must be in the following condition:

officially approved
unloaded
ready for driving
safe to drive in accordance with the road traffic regulations
have a valid general inspection (sticker)
Equipped with winter tires (installed) in the months from the beginning of October to the end of March
Master key available
Original vehicle registration document available

Electric vehicles must also be available with a minimum charge level of 80% upon collection. In cases where electric vehicles have less than the minimum charge level of 80% when picked up, transfer may not be possible and the journey will be charged as an empty journey.

What is an empty run at DEKRA?

Empty trips will be charged in full (order total) if, for example, vehicles are not ready for collection or roadworthy/roadworthy or not registered at the pickup location and DEKRA is not responsible for this circumstance; the same applies to cancellations (e.g. trip is no longer required) or changes of travel orders (e.g. change of pickup or destination) within three working days before the earliest possible pickup date to carry out the trip.

How long does a transfer take at DEKRA?

The transfer times depend on various factors. DEKRA usually delivers vehicles within five to ten working days from the earliest possible pick-up time.

DEKRA only transfers vehicles within Germany. Vehicles can be picked up or delivered from/to any location in Germany, as long as they can travel to/from their own vehicle.

Do I have to be there in person?

In principle, it is always advantageous if you are there in person to receive your vehicle or hand over your vehicle to a transfer driver. However, you have the option of appointing an authorized representative using a power of attorney form. DEKRA requires this information at least two working days before acceptance or handover.
